History of Mystery
Mike Rose is not just a seasoned professional comedian and magician but he is also a magic historian and award-winning author (one of Mike’s books, Joe Karson – Beyond Zombie – a biography of the nearly forgotten yet highly influential magician from the early 20th century received the “Library Special Award” from the Book Award Committee of the Society of American Magicians Hall of Fame and Magic Museum). Mike has combined his love of performing with his passion for magic history creating the show, The History of Mystery. This is definitely not your typical magic show! During the performance the audience will not only hear about magic and magicians from the past, but they will see antiquarian magic recreated and performed. Many of the pieces of magic apparatus used in the performance are rare antiques from Mike’s personal collection. The historical facts and tidbits about magic’s past make the show fascinating and the performance of the magic makes the show engaging and fun. This show truly is entertaining and educational!
New for 2026! Women Magicians in History
Women Magicians in History also features historical facts and tidbits about magicians from the past dating back over 100 years. However, this program focuses specifically on female performers. Most people think of the women in magic acts as the person who gets sawn in half or levitated. But Mike will reveal numerous examples of women who performed as the principal performer, the magician. These women fronted their own shows and were the star performers of their magic acts. See historical photos and hear entertaining stories about these trailblazing women performers. Mike will also perform many magic effects that were popular during the time periods discussed. This is a great program for Women's History Month!

The History of Mystery and Women Magicians in History shows are designed for adults, the cerebral nature of the presentations make them perfect for mature audiences. The multi-media programs are 50 minutes long and Mike provides all necessary equipment including a sound system, projector and screen.
